Children’s Orchestra is a beginner string orchestra for children (usually Y3 – Y7) who have just started learning to play their instrument. We welcome you from when you can bow on open strings until you are ready to move on to Youth Strings (roughly Grade 2). The music is specially chosen by expert Music Leaders so we will have a part that it is just the right level for you.
Children playing the following instruments are welcome:
- Violin
- Viola
- Cello
- Double Bass
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to play with other young musicians from across the City. We spend time playing games and getting to know each other - being a team helps us play as an ensemble better. We focus on being really secure in playing in time as a team whilst learning to follow a conductor and expand our dynamic range. We will teach you all the foundation ensemble skills you need to progress right through to Senior Orchestra!
We have performed in lots of exciting venues including Sheffield Cathedral and the Octagon Centre.
We welcome new members at any point in the term so please come along and give us a try or get in contact if you have any questions!
To join this group sign up online at least 24 hours before the first attended rehearsal.
Please note we accept new members into this group throughout the year.
