Heather Burge (Strings)
My name is Heather and I am a violin and viola teacher. I started to learn to play violin when I was 7 before working my way through all of the Sheffield Music Service orchestras, finally ending up in City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra. I went on to study for a degree in performance at Leeds College of Music before moving to Manchester to study for a PGCE in Music with Specialist Instrumental Teaching. I quickly returned home and have worked for Sheffield Music Hub ever since! I love to do a mix of teaching including whole class instrumental lessons. I am also the director of Sheffield Children’s Orchestra, our beginner string orchestra. I am hugely passionate about inclusion and spend part of the week co-ordinating work for children in care and working on youth voice and Communities of Practise. I am the Music Hub Inclusion Lead, Deputy Safeguarding Lead and Trauma Informed Practitioner.
