Hello! We are Sheffield Youth Samba Band. Anyone from year 3 to year 13 is welcome to join us!

• Our Junior Samba band is for children from year 3 to year 6. 
• Our Youth Samba band is from year 7 to year 13.

We are a very fun and welcoming band, and we all play drums. So we’re nice and noisy! (We provide ear defenders). There are lots of different types of drums, ranging from small ones for little people to really big ones for big people! And the parts, or rhythms that we play, range from very easy to quite complicated. There’s something for everyone at Samba band!

We are a busy band, playing out at lots of community events throughout the year. Lantern carnivals are a real favourite. And we often get free food after our shows. We’ve had everything from curries to jacket potatoes and beans!

So if this sounds like your thing, we’d love to meet you. You are very welcome to pop along any Wednesday evening to Redtape studios and give us a try. Hope to see you soon!

No experience needed, suitable for either complete beginners or experienced percussionists! Just turn up and join in!

What to expect at your first rehearsal

If you think it might help, please share the Young Person’s Rehearsal Timeline with your young musician. This will give them an idea of what to expect when they arrive, the rehearsal and what to do at the end. Hopefully it will help calm some nerves :)

Fees: Membership for our groups is TOTALLY FREE if you are in receipt of free school meals or fit our bursary criteria. We don’t want cost to be an issue, the friends of Sheffield Music Hub support with bursaries, please email musichubprojects@sheffield.gov.uk if you need help with the cost of fees, whatever your circumstances.

Price Band A: £65 per term or £180 per year (September – July) If attending 2 or more Price Band A groups:
£80 per term or £225 per year (September – July)

Please note we accept new members into this group throughout the year.
