Intermediate Strings is the string section of Young Sinfonia, where we’ll take a deep dive into the strings’ sound world and focus on a variety of repertoire we can explore together in our own concerts and performances. We care deeply about the character of the sound we produce and put an emphasis on intention and conscious choices in our playing. The atmosphere is really laid-back but we work our socks off and aim to impress. Players in Intermediate Strings and Young Sinfonia are usually Y6 - Y9 and around a grade 3-6 level (with no requirement for you to have taken these exams). Over the last few years alone we’ve played everything from Handel to The Lion King, and John is always open to repertoire suggestions, however crazy they might seem. Intermediate Strings takes place directly before Young Sinfonia so please stay for both!

Please note we only accept new members into this group in the first half of every term (e.g. September to October, January to February, April to May).
