Does your child love playing the clarinet?
Would they like to play with other clarinettist in a group specifically for just that instrument?
You can hear what we sound like here (scroll to 26:25)
Our Intermediate Clarinet group is for students who are approximately grade 1 + to grade 5. They don’t have to have taken any exams and their teacher will be able to advise when they are of this standard. Essentially if they can comfortably get round the lower register and are starting to explore notes in the 2nd register they are ready to join!
We plays lots of different types of music – tunes from Disney and other popular films, folk songs, jazzy numbers, arrangements of famous clarinet pieces such as ‘Stranger on the Shore’, tunes like The Can Can to get your toes tapping and traditional well known classical pieces such as music from the ‘Hovis’ advert, alongside more modern pieces.
There are opportunities to play other instruments in the clarinet family such as the bass clarinet and occasional pieces with added football rattle, car horn and bird sounds!
Rehearsals are lively and fun. All group members are very friendly and new members are always made to feel welcome. We take a short 5 minute break each week for everyone to catch up with their friends and build team bonds. We even have a giant snail in a tank in the rehearsal room and enjoy seeing how much it climbs the walls in response to the differing pieces we play!
We perform in concerts 3 times a year, in a variety of venues around the city.
Why not come and join us!
To join this group sign up online at least 24 hours before the first attended rehearsal.
Please note we only accept new members into this group in the first half of every term (e.g. September to October, January to February, April to May).
