Join Our Music Groups This September!
Music groups start back week commencing 14th September
Our music groups are fun, inclusive, high-quality, and membership is TOTALLY FREE if you are in receipt of free school meals or fit our bursary criteria.
We have a wide range of music groups to choose from, and this year we're excited to be launching several new music groups for young musicians across Sheffield. You can try our groups for a few weeks with NO COMMITMENT, as invoices are not issued until a few weeks into the term. This gives young people time to attend rehearsals, get to know the group, and make sure it is the right fit before any payment is required.
Our music groups are open to anyone from Year 1 to Year 13, with no prior musical experience required. From beginner groups to advanced ensembles, the programme is designed to support young people at every stage of their musical journey. Sessions are relaxed, friendly, and focused on building confidence, creativity, and connection through music.

New Music Groups
New Sheffield Youth Choir - Mini Voices!
New for September 2026, Mini Voices is the newest and youngest choir in the Sheffield Youth Choirs family. Open to children in Years 1 and 2, the group offers a fun and welcoming introduction to singing through songs, musical games, and creative activities. There is no previous musical experience is required!
Mini Voices joins Sheffield Youth Choirs and the choir progression continues to Junior Voices, Youth Voices and Concordia Voices. We have choirs for young singers from Year 1 right through to Year 13!

Rock and Pop Pathway increase!
Band Skills
Band Skills is the first step in Sheffield Music Hub's brand-new Rock and Pop Pathway. Aimed at young musicians in Years 7 to 13 who have already started learning an instrument, the group helps singers, guitarists, bassists, drummers and keyboard players develop the skills needed to perform as part of a band. Members build confidence, learn how to rehearse together, develop technical skills, and experience the excitement of making music with others.
Band Factory
Once musicians have gained some band experience, they can progress to Band Factory. This exciting group gives young people the opportunity to form their own bands, learn new songs, explore different musical styles and collaborate creatively with their peers. Members regularly perform at venues across Sheffield and are encouraged to help shape the musical direction of their bands, creating a genuine band experience.
The Next Big Thing
The final stage of the Rock and Pop Pathway is The Next Big Thing, Sheffield Music Hub's advanced band development programme. Designed for established bands, the group supports young musicians in developing stage presence, strengthening their identity as a band and preparing for lots of gigs! Members also benefit from songwriting support, recording opportunities and industry-led workshops.

New Wind Band - Sheffield Junior Wind Band!
We're delighted to be expanding our wind band pathway with the launch of Sheffield Junior Wind Band for young brass, woodwind and percussion players in Years 5 to 8. This exciting new group means Sheffield Music Hub now offers four wind bands, providing opportunities for young musicians from Year 3 right through to Year 13!
The growth of our wind band programme is due to the increasing number of young people making music across the city. Come and get involved!

Sheffield Youth Jazz Collective – two new jazz groups!
Another exciting development this year is the expansion of the Sheffield Youth Jazz Collective. We have grown Sheffield Youth Jazz Collective from one group to three dedicated music groups: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.
The Beginner group introduces players to improvisation and collaborative music-making, while the Intermediate and Advanced groups provide clear progression opportunities to further develop jazz performance, musicianship and improvisation skills.
By expanding from one group to three, Sheffield Music Hub can now offer a stronger and more structured progression pathway, helping young musicians develop their skills and confidence in the world of jazz.

Families receiving Free School Meals, Universal Credit, Income Support, Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance, or Working Tax Credit are eligible for FREE membership, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to participation.
Music has a powerful impact on young people, helping them to express themselves, build social connections, and develop valuable life skills. Sheffield Music Hub’s groups offer a space where young people can grow, explore their creativity, and be part of a vibrant musical community.
Sheffield Music Hub is committed to making music education accessible to all. Every child, regardless of race, gender, where they live, their level of musical talent, parental income, whether they have special educational needs or disabilities, or whether they are looked-after children, is welcomed and supported. The Hub believes that music should be a part of every child’s life, and its inclusive approach reflects that belief.
