Rob Horscroft (Brass)
Rob Horscroft began playing the cornet when he was 7 years old. He was first taught by his father and joined his local Salvation Army band a few months later.
During his time at school Rob had trumpet lessons through the Bromley Schools Music Service with Dennis Mycroft and then Ray Allen. Rob continued his studies on the trumpet at Colchester Institute where he was taught by George Reynolds and was presented with the Ifor James Brass trophy by Philip Jones.
On completion of his degree Rob went to Middlesex University to study for a P.G.C.E in secondary music and during this time started teaching brass for the Bromley Youth Music Trust.
After a few years of combining teaching with free-lancing on the trumpet Rob accepted a full time teaching post with the Bromley Youth Music Trust. Following relocation to Sheffield in 2004 Rob started teaching for the Barnsley Music Service and more recently with the Sheffield Music Hub.
Rob is principal trumpet with the Hallam Sinfonia and has also performed with the London Concert Orchestra, Mozart Festival Orchestra and Brighouse and Rastrick Brass band. He has made recent solo appearances with Glossop Choral Society and Hallam Sinfonia.
