Brass Recital for Sheffield Music Hub's Young Brass Players!

This Brass Recital provides young brass musicians learning with Sheffield Music Hub teachers the opportunity to perform solo or small group pieces in front of their parents and peers. As part of the Sheffield Music Hub Recital Programme, the event offers a supportive and encouraging environment for students to develop their performance skills and share the joy of music with each other.

Performing for others, making music in a collaborative and supportive setting, and being part of a musical community can significantly accelerate musical development. It is also one of the most rewarding aspects of being a musician. For many young people at the start of their musical journey, recital performances may be their first opportunity to play in front of an audience. Our recital programme provides a supportive and encouraging environment where young musicians can share what they have been working on, celebrate their progress, and build confidence performing in front of an audience.

By listening to their peers, students are inspired by a wide range of musical performances and often discover new ideas, techniques, and approaches that they can incorporate into their own playing. Younger musicians particularly benefit from hearing more advanced players, helping them to see what they could achieve in the years ahead and encouraging them to continue developing their skills.

Since the programme was introduced at the start of 2026, it has been highly successful. Teachers have reported increased enthusiasm, motivation, and confidence amongst participants following each event. Many students leave feeling inspired to practise more regularly and work towards future performance opportunities, supporting their overall musical development.
