Sheffield Music Hub to Perform in Tudor Square for World Seniors Snooker

Published on 05/05/2026

Sheffield Music Hub is delighted to be performing in Tudor Square as part of Youth of Sheffield Day, taking place alongside the World Seniors Snooker Championship.

This forms part of a wider celebration of Sheffield’s connection to snooker and aims to inspire the next generation through hands‑on experience, competition and live sport. The event builds on the success of the first Youth of Sheffield Day, which took place during last year’s championship.

Sheffield Music Hub will be bringing live music to Tudor Square, with performances outside the Crucible from 10.00am to 11.45am. Children and families can enjoy the performances free of charge and will be treated to performances from Sheffield Youth Big Band, one of the North of England’s leading youth big bands, alongside exciting up‑and‑coming bands from Sheffield Music Hub’s ground‑breaking Rock and Pop Band Skills Programme. We are thrilled to be collaborating with Sheffield City Council and World Seniors Snooker to make this happen.

Youth of Sheffield Day will also feature partnerships with local universities, giving students the opportunity to work on the marketing, promotion and TV production of the event. Alongside this, a free, bite‑sized careers trail – the Snooker Sector Safari – will take place, highlighting the wide range of careers involved in delivering a world‑class snooker event.

Young people and families are encouraged to complete the Sector Safari to uncover the secret word, giving them the chance to win four front‑row tickets to the semi‑final on Saturday. Participants can also search for the mystery snooker player in Tudor Square from 10.00am.

This year’s World Seniors Snooker Championship features some of the sport’s biggest names, including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams, and Reanne Evans. Defending champion Alfie Burden will return, alongside Joe Perry, Robert Milkins, and Dominic Dale.

Seeing Tudor Square filled with young people enjoying live music alongside elite snooker is hugely inspiring, and this year’s Youth of Sheffield Day promises to be bigger and better.

World Seniors Snooker has also confirmed that the championship will return to the Crucible from 6 to 10 May 2026, with an expanded field of 24 players competing for a record prize fund of £30,000.

Youth of Sheffield Day highlights Sheffield’s proud snooker legacy while encouraging young people to explore opportunities both on and off the table. The championship continues to bring players, fans and visitors to the city, reinforcing Sheffield’s reputation as the Home of Snooker.
