Folk Factory Juniors
Our partners at Folk Factory would love to have you come along - "Come and join our folk big band! Any instrument. Any standard! Limited spaces available!"
The Folk Factory is a music ensemble dedicated to exploring folk music, tunes, songs and dance from around the world in a fun and friendly way. We learn by ear, write and arrange our own pieces and perform regularly! Our aim is to connect and engage young people with folk heritage in lively and relevant ways by learning traditional tunes and creating new ones.
No grades needed, open to any instruments, but basic knowledge of your instrument is required. No need to read music, absolute beginners to advanced players equally welcome. Instruments not provided- we do have a keyboard and a piano.
Each group is £6 per week, billed termly. Sibling discount and bursaries are available (email us!) We run alongside the school terms. Taster sessions are free, so come and try a session before signing up for the term!

Snacks provided each week!
At Folk Factory we pride ourselves on being an open and inclusive community, creating a place and part for everyone, regardless of experience. The ensemble is led by the ideas and needs of the young musicians, youth voice is very important to us! Come along to develop your musicianship and confidence, in a fun and creative ensemble. We have created quite a community over the years, and many of our young people meet up to play outside of the ensemble, forming their own sessions, jams, ceilidhs and bands, or just to hang out and have fun. The young musicians can also benefit from the contacts and support we can offer if they wish to pursue folk music further- many of our musicians perform yearly at Cambridge Folk Festival, so the ensemble is a great place to meet and perform with like-minded musicians.
