Yuko Kure (Keyboard/Piano)
Hello, I'm Yuko! I am a piano tutor at the Sheffield Music Hub. I started my first piano lessons when I was 6 years old, I still remember the excitement when I saw the grand piano at my piano teacher’s house for the very first time!
I am a classically trained pianist, I started my official music training at my secondary school when I was 12. Since then, I have been performing in different orchestras, ensembles, and choir/instrumental accompaniments. However, I have also explored various genres and performed with musicians from different backgrounds such as Jazz, pop, and old gold/classic.
I have experience working with SEND students of all ages, NHS’s Arts and Music in Healthcare Projects, Music in The Round, and the Music Department of the University of Sheffield. I enjoy using music as the tool to make a difference in people’s everyday live and their wellbeing, applying music psychology in music education is something I am very passionate about, most importantly, to see that my students foster the ability to think creatively and to develop independent musicianship.
- Favourite song/piece of music – Depending on my mood, I listen to a wide genre of music from Classical, Jazz, Croatian pop music to Japanese folk music (the older the better!).
- Favourite things to do outside of work – Taking walks, reading, cooking/baking, volunteering in the hospitals, being in the nature.
- Favourite food – Depends on my mood, but I really love vegetables!
- Favourite place in Sheffield – I haven’t decided yet, welcome for suggestions
