Nigel Martin (Woodwind)

Hello everyone, I am Nigel and welcome to my profile page. I am a woodwind tutor, with specialism in all types of recorders from renaissance to modern electronic types. Many years ago I won the Evelyn Harrod Entrance Scholarship to study recorders at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. I thoroughly enjoyed my fours of study and then undertook a postgraduate course at the Royal College of Music, London.I enjoy teaching, performing, conducting and have recently examined for the Victoria College of Music, London and a PhD recorder student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.

I am the director of both recorder ensemble's at the Hub. I believe strongly in partnership and act as Chairman for the South Yorkshire Recorder Academy which connects with all of the four S.Yorkshire Music Hubs.

  • One thing about me that would surprise you! - I am a specialist in elocution, the art of reading aloud, verse speaking and speech and drama, holding the diploma's of LLCM and ALCM
