Amy Kershaw (Woodwind)

I’m Amy, teacher of bassoon, flute, clarinet and recorder in schools across our city. As a young musician I played in many county ensembles throughout Derbyshire, from large wind bands and orchestras to (my real passion) small chamber groups- performing across the world as far as Japan when I was 17! I continued my studies at the Royal Northern College of Music and am now inspiring and enabling young musicians in Sheffield to experience that same sense of enjoyment, achievement and community through my teaching. I deliver 1-2-1 lessons, whole class instrumental lessons in schools (fun!), and I also conduct our Intermediate Flute Choir every Tuesday evening.

I have been teaching for the Hub for 13 years now! I live in Dronfield with my husband and two young children. We like being outdoors- walking in the Peak District, cycling and camping.

  • Favourite song/artist- tricky one, so I’ll say our wedding first dance was ‘Shake your Tail Feather’ Ray Charles
  • Hobby outside of work- bike rides with my littlest one in the child’s seat
  • Favourite food- anything Thai or Vietnamese
  • Favouritelace in Sheffield- the Wyming Brook Rivelin walk
  • Surprising fact- as a child our family pets were 2 goats in the garden
