Instrument: French Horn
Tim began playing the Horn at the age of 12. Having been taught locally in Sheffield for several years, he began to study privately with Bob Ashworth in Leeds. In 1997 he commenced his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. During his time at the RNCM, Tim studied firstly with Derek Taylor as an undergraduate student and then with Bob Ashworth as a postgraduate. Tim's studies at the RNCM culminated with a Masters Degree in Performance in 2002. In the same year he was also awarded the "British Reserve Prize for Horn in Memory of Sydney Coulston". Whilst still at college Tim began to perform as a freelance player, and since this time has worked with orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, Halle, Manchester Camerata, Opera North, RLPO and WNO. A highlight for Tim of the last few years has been performing Wagner Tuba in Opera North's acclaimed production of the Ring Cycle.
Tim attempts to promote the Horn in his home city and cares greatly about the positive impact of music on young people.
Aside from the Horn, Tim greatly enjoys travelling whenever time allows.
