Instrument: Piano (Practical and Theory)

Emma Waggott has wanted to be a teacher since the age of 5.  She started learning piano at the age of 8 and began teaching at 17.  Emma has taught piano alongside class teaching in primary schools for the last 12 years.

Emma studied piano in Essex and then in Sheffield.  She passed Grade 8 piano with distinction, winning The Winifred Liversidge Prize.

Emma gained her bachelor’s degree at The University of Sheffield before going to Sheffield Hallam for her PGCE.  She taught Junior school children in all subjects for 6 years before focusing on music teaching for the following 10 years.

During this time, Emma has taught piano to pupils aged 6 to 50.  She has given practical and theory lessons, following the ABRSM syllabus.  Emma has enjoyed leading the school orchestra and organising concerts where all pupils can show off their musical talents. Emma particularly enjoys finding music to suit pupils’ different tastes and seeing pupils of all abilities make progress in playing piano.
