Teacher Strike Action update

Published on 27/01/2023

As you will be aware there will be strike action by teaching members of the NEU on the following dates that will affect the schools we work in to deliver music lessons.

  • Wednesday 1 February 2023
  • Tuesday 28 February 2023
  • Wednesday 15 March 2023
  • Thursday 16 March 2023

Our team of Music Leaders will do their best to deliver lessons as usual on these days. If your child is attending school they should take their instrument for their lesson.

Should your child’s school be closed on these days our Music Leaders will try to offer online lessons via zoom. Attached is an important letter outlining our safeguarding expectations for online lessons. If you know now what is happening in your child’s school please do let your Music Leader know so they have plenty of time to plan.

We know that some schools will be partially open – where classes are in school on strike days lessons will take place face to face and Music Leaders will try to arrange online lessons for those at home, but we do understand that this may cause some practical challenges for both families and the Music Leader.

Whatever happens in your child’s school the team will work to ensure that you have all of the lessons you have paid for over the course of the academic year.

We will review how well this works after the first planned strike day.

Your child’s Music Leader will be in touch with you as soon as they get a clear picture of the position of your child’s school – although in some circumstances we may not know until the day itself which may make last minute arrangements for online lessons difficult.

There is a possibility that a Music Leader may choose to take strike action. We will not know until the day itself in this instance. We will be in touch should your child’s Music Leader be absent in this instance.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Music Leader in the first instance.

Thank you for your ongoing support – we hope that your child is continuing to enjoy playing their music lessons.
