One Voice Summer 2024 Schools sign up

Published on 09/02/2024

Sheffield Schools - we are delighted to invite you to take part in One Voice Summer 2024.

One Voice is a singing festival run by Sheffield Music Hub for KS2 classes/choirs. You can bring as many classes as you want, or bring your school choir or singing club. The songs for this project have been chosen with theme of HOPE and CELEBRATION in mind and will be a joyful but also thoughtful reflection on how working together and caring for each other creates a spirit of belonging. The project empowers teachers to lead their classes in singing and gives children the fantastic opportunity to come together with hundreds of other children from across Sheffield in an inspiring performance at The Octagon. Tickets will be available for family to come and watch their children perform.

DATES & TIMES

  • CPD Session (for all teachers involved): Thursday 2nd May 4-6pm, Foundry Studios
  • Live Online Singing Sessions (for all the singers involved): Wednesdays 12th and 19th June 10-10.45am
  • Performance Days: Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd July 10am – 2.30pm, Octagon Centre

Schools only attend one performance day

The project starts with CPD for all the class teachers involved. Kate Shipway, one of our Vocal Music Leaders, will lead teachers through the songs in a fun and supportive session at The Foundry (3 Brown Street, Sheffield). Teachers then lead on teaching their classes the festival songs. Music/lyrics/rehearsal tracks and backing tracks are all provided to enable teachers to do this well.

A few weeks before the culmination, to help in your schools preperation. Kate will do two live sessions that are streamed out on YouTube. These can be watched at the time of streaming or watched back at a later time.

On the day of the performance, schools will come together at The Octagon for a rehearsal in the morning and performance in the afternoon.
