Music for Youth Schools Prom 2017 - Royal Albert Hall

Published on 05/04/2017

We are looking for 3 Sheffield schools to provide singers to be part of a massed choir at the Music for Youth Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday 13th November, 2017.

We are delighted to announce that Sheffield Music Hub has been successful in bidding alongside other South Yorkshire Music Hubs to provide one of the massed items for the Music for Youth Schools Proms in November 2017. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to come together and perform along with 700 young musicians and singers from across South Yorkshire to perform at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, London on Monday 13th November 2017. To create an original composition for this performance, we have commissioned internationally renowned trombonist Dennis Rollins and composer Chris Noble to work with the young musicians.

At the core of the piece will be massed Jazz ensemble with musicians from Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley Music Hubs. In addition to this, Y5 and Y6 children will create a large scale choir from primary schools throughout South Yorkshire.  We are now looking for the schools to be part of this project.
