Jazz Camp for Girls!

Published on 26/01/2023

Jazz Camp for Girls is a one-day workshop taking place in the Department of Music at the University of Sheffield on Saturday 25 February 2023 from 10am - 4pm. We expect participants to engage with the full programme and ask that you make your travel arrangements around these start and finish times.

Join workshop leaders Sarah Heneghan and Emma Johnson, alongside the University of Sheffield's Tim Knowles, for a day of musical fun at Jazz Camp for Girls, an unforgettable first experience of improvisation that will help build your confidence and musical curiosity.

During the creative music workshops, under the mentorship of female role models, you will play new music with other young musicians, experiment with your instrument and improvisation and will enjoy group sessions that give you the experience of being part of a band.

Who can attend?

This workshop is for grade 1 and above players (this could be the level at which you're currently playing, or the last grade you received) aged between 9 - 15 years. Jazz Camp for Girls is a gender-positive space. This means we welcome all girls, including those who don't fit stereotypes.

Camp price is £20. We have a limited number of bursaries available for participants who meet widening participation criteria. More information on bursaries can be found in the booking form.
