Instrument Return, Hire and Exchanges

Sheffield Music Hub has been working closely with our schools, partners and Sheffield City Council to start a phased return to music activity.  Following an agreement with the SCC Incident Management Group we have now been able to access our site and storage facilities at Stadia Technology Park to start the next phase of our return to music making. At present  we are still unable to open to the general public – hopefully this will be available shortly – in the meantime please see the following advice:

Instrument Returns

Our recent billing cycle and end of year leavers has created a number of instruments that need to be returned to us. Thank you if you have already been in touch.

A number of drop-off days have been arranged for the following dates:

  • Tuesday 15th September and Thursday 17th September : 5:30pm – 7:00pm
  • Tuesday 22nd September and Thursday 24th September : 5:30pm – 7:00pm

These drop off sessions will take place in the car park of Mercia School: Mercia School, Carter Knowle Road, S7 2DY.

There will be a strict protocol in place which we ask you to be aware of along with social distancing and one ways systems which will be in place throughout.  We will be asking you to wear a mask whilst returning your instrument and hand sanitiser will be available.

In advance of returning your instrument we ask you to ensure this has been cleaned and in its instrument case.  We will not accept a return unless it is in its case.

We will have a register of instruments expected to be returned in that session and we will ask you to confirm some details – you will then be given a receipt that you MUST keep in order to prove your return.  If you do not return your instrument this will be recorded as lost and you will be contacted with next steps as per the instrument loan agreement.  If your instrument is damaged we will discuss next steps as per instrument loan agreement.

Instrument Hire, Repairs or Exchanges

Unfortunately at this time we are still unable to offer the facility of instrument hire, repair or exchange – this is currently being requested through the Incident Team with a number of risk assessments and protocols around cleaning, storage and distribution being put in place.  We hope to have this agreed and available as soon as possible and we are really sorry if this has caused difficulties in your child’s music tuition but our priority is to ensure a safe working environment and practice for our staff, members of the public and students.

We will let you know of any updates on this and are currently collating a list of urgent or necessary exchanges or repairs needed in the first instance – if you would like to contact us regarding this please e-mail:  hiresrepairs@redtape.org

We thank you again for your patience.

Kind regards
