Free School Singing Classes

Published on 10/01/2019

Opportunity to receive free fully funded school singing classes designed in partnership with Sheffield Cathedral.

Would your school be interested in a term of free singing for Key Stage 2, led by the specialist music staff of Sheffield Cathedral?

During the academic year 2019-20, a professional singer from the Cathedral’s renowned choir will visit for one day per week for a whole term, offering children in Years 3, 4 and 5 class-group singing sessions at school and the opportunity to visit and perform in the historic Cathedral with its reverberant acoustic.

The sessions will be educational, fun and engaging, and will develop the children’s voices and musicianship as well as their confidence, teamwork and critical thinking.  Singing also contributes beneficially to health and wellbeing.

Training will be offered to music coordinators and teaching staff to assist with their professional development and further enable them to lead inspiring music making in school.

Sheffield Cathedral, supported by the Friends of Cathedral Music, will be applying for project funding in January and would be very pleased to hear immediately from schools who are strongly interested and wish to explore further how the 2019-20 project could benefit them.  The project is dependent on a successful funding application.

Sheffield Cathedral is a partner of Sheffield Music Hub.
