Changes to Music Groups

Published on 16/03/2021

We are excited to announce that we are planning to resume with face to face music group rehearsals w/c 21st June (in line with all Covid social distancing measures being lifted).

Whilst we had hoped to resume with some face to face group sessions before the restrictions are fully lifted we are finding that this is something of a logistical nightmare. The need to find and set up suitable spaces, breaking groups down to no more than 15 at a time, giving suitable time between sessions for cleaning etc has continued to challenge us. It's a classic case of square peg, round hole and we just cannot make it stack up within the current guidance. Our top priority remains to deliver exciting, collaborative and musically engaging sessions so, to give us all certainty we will continue with Zoom sessions until the 21st June.

When we return with face to face rehearsals there will be some changes for certain groups (venue/day/time) which are unfortunately unavoidable. These changes are listed below:

Tuesdays at Mercia

5:45 - 6:45pm - Sheffield Children's Orchestra - all members (including Bradfield and High Green attendees)

Tuesdays at All Saints Catholic High School

6:15 - 7:15pm - Junior Voices (Festival Choir)

6:15 - 7:15pm - Intermediate Bassoons

6:15 - 7:15pm - Intermediate Clarinets

6:15 - 7:15pm - Intermediate Flutes

7:30 - 8:30pm - Youth Voices (Senior Choir)

7:30 - 8:30pm - Sheffield Youth Wind Band

Wednesdays at Mercia School

6:15 - 7:30pm - Sheffield Youth Samba Band

6:00 - 8:00pm - Sheffield Youth Jazz Collective

7:00 - 8:30pm - Sheffield Youth Big Band

All other groups will continue as before lockdown and details of all groups days and times can be downloaded here.

If you are in a group hosted by the Lowe Academy then please contact them directly for details of their return to rehearsals.

We are in the early stages of planning some enjoyable "music group days" early in the Summer holidays  - watch this space for more details.

If you have any questions please email the Music Hub Projects Team or contact your music group director.
