Musical Pathways Programme

The recommended way for schools to provide opportunities for children to learn a musical instrument.

We recommend all children in the school have:

1 year of learning an instrument in a whole class  (First Access) followed by
1 or 2 years of learning an instrument in groups of up to 10 (Pathways Lessons)
Opportunity to move into specialist lessons – either individual or in groups of up to 4

The Musical Pathways is partly paid for by Arts Council England.  We ask schools to match the funding that they provide.
