Amnael Orozco (Strings)
Hey, hey, people! I’m Amnael, and I teach violin, viola and cello here at the Hub. I’ve been working with young players for a long, long while now, and I really enjoy helping them make sense of music: how it feels, how it sounds, and how to make it what they want. I keep my lessons relaxing and fun, but I’ll gently challenge you to grow your skills without you even noticing! We play, we listen, we mess up, and we try again - no drama, just steady progress.
I left Mexico City about ten years ago, bringing with me loads of stories from my time playing in orchestras like that time I injured my left hand so I started playing viola left-handed so it only had to hold a bow! I also played for a feature film (I've got movie credits for that!). You can come watch me play with the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra and the Sheffield Symphony Orchestra at the front of the viola section.
Some things aboute me ...
- Favourite piece of music: I like playing Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, and Paganini.
- Favourite thing to do outside of work: Playing games on Steam.
- Favourite food: Pizza, Domino's specifically.
- Favourite place in Sheffield: My home desk.
- One thing that would surprise you to know: I have dissected over two dozen full human bodies for anatomical examination (for my other job at the University of Sheffield, not just for fun).
