Anna Wilson (Piano/Keyboard)
I'm Anna, and I'm a music tutor, specialising in piano. It's such a magical and beautiful instrument, and I fell in love with it when I was 10, in my first piano lesson. I feel extremely privileged to now be offering lessons to others, where I can share this love and nurture musical growth and expression.
I have also always been drawn to composition and studied it at Master's level at Sheffield University. I was utterly delighted when my newest composition, 'Lingering Spring' was recently played on The Sleeping Forecast, BBC Sound Mixes (Radio 3). Composition and improvisation is one of my favourite aspects of teaching, as I feel that it allows and opens up a special and unique sense of freedom to be creative and self-expressive.
Some more things about me...
- Favourite song: Well, actually, I think it might have to be 'My Favourite Things' from the Sound of Music!! It just makes me happy!
- Favourite thing to do outside of work: When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with friends and family, whether it be enjoying tea and cake in a cosy cafe, walking in nature, or bustling in the kitchen, rustling up new dishes for us to enjoy together. I also love to peacefully sit at the piano, learning new pieces and composing.
- Favourite food: Anything Vietnamese... Nam Song is one of my favourite places in the whole of Sheffield!
- Favourite place: Well, apart from Nam Song, it would have to be the rose garden, in the Botanical gardens!
- One thing that would surprise you to know: I have a giant continental rabbit called Mr. Bingley, whose favourite drink is hibiscus tea! He is a great fan of piano music :)
