Young Sound UK Connect: A Creative Get Together at The Foundry

Last Sunday, the children and young people on our Young Sound UK Connect Programme gathered at The Foundry for an inspiring Get Together, led by the brilliant Rachel Leach, who works with the London Symphony Orchestra!

Throughout the day, the young musicians took part in a composition workshop focused on graphic scores. They split into groups, brainstorming ideas and exploring how to interpret their scores in creative ways. It was fantastic to see their imaginations come to life as they collaborated and experimented with different musical concepts.

We were also delighted to welcome two talented musicians from The National Youth Orchestra (NYO), who played a key role in facilitating discussions and guiding each group through the composition process. Their expertise and encouragement made a huge difference.

Music can come in all forms, genres, notations and doesn’t always have to be in the style of a Western Score. It was great to see the children and young people get into this different way of thinking and composing in such a free and creative way.
